Obama has not proved business isn't same as usual

Thursday, February 12, 2009 11:45 PM EST

“No more business as usual in Washington.” I took President Obama to mean he was doing away with corruption. I guess we should've asked him to elaborate.
Tim Geithner didn't pay tens of thousands in taxes and is secretary of the treasury. Tom Daschle didn't pay over $120,000 in taxes. Better find a post for him!

I have some good candidates: Dr. Kevorkian for surgeon general, Marion Berry and Eliot Spitzer can oversee drugs and prostitutes, David Duke and Rev. Wright for race relations and Bill Ayers can keep an eye on terrorism.

I'm glad we did away with those crooked Republicans.

" Is one sentence all your brain can produce? You keep making false statements about the majority party but that is all. You never try any facts or logic to back up your one sentence rants. You have no facts or logic to present. You are just taking up space on this forum. "

" Gator, DanW's spelling of "experance" isn't a spelling error--he just doesn't know how to spell it.

There's no "A" in the last syllable, and both "I" and "E" are far enough apart that you can't chalk that up to a simple typing mistake---like many of mine! "

" Regarding your "glass-houses" comment you may want to reread your posts in the Two Cents, you will find you have misspelled many words. You may want to rethink chastizing for spelling errors, it really doesn't add any value to your opinion. "

" Dan W has the temerity to call someone an "idiot"--what the hell is "experance", genius?!

"EXPERANCE"?!?!

LMFAO!

Anyhoo, Chris--I can only conjecture that if the Bush Administration had as much transparency and honest integrity as the Obama administration has, that the skeletons in the closets of the MAJORITY of these Republican crooks would have come flying out of closets.

Here's the difference--the Obama picks at least had the integrity to 'fess up BEFORE They disgraced their offices; the Bush administration crooks blatantly committed crimes WHILE IN OFFICE.

It's called "glass houses".

Oh, and uh, Dan?--it's spelled "experience"--write it down somewhere, OK? "

" Right, and what about the nominee for Labor Secretary, Rep. Holis, who just "forgot" to disclose to her fellow congressional members that she is listed as an employee of a lobbying firm that lobbies Congress on LABOR ISSUES. She refused to say where she stands on card check, though it's all about transparency.

Obama has reformed NOTHING. He has brought the corrupt practices of Chicago, as well as many of his Chicago cronies with him to Washington. See latest power grab as he tries to hand his chief of staff oversight of the census, taking it away from its rightful place under the supervision of the Commerce Secretary, who withdrew his nomination because of this egregious action.

Oh, and what about his Education Secretary, you know the one who was the Superintendent of Chicago schools when all those kids were getting beaten by the teachers? Nice crowPr "

" Karl, thats what the vetting process is supposed to do.

The head of the IRS didn't pay his taxes.

The nominee for Health & Human Services didn't pay his taxes.

The nomination of David Ogden to the second highest position at the U.S. Department of Justice is interesting:
He worked against the Children’s Internet Protection Act (United States v. American Library Association), which sought to protect children from obscene materials in public libraries, and the Child Protection and Obscenity Enforcement Act (American Library Association v. Thornburgh), which required producers of pornography to personally verify that models were not minors. He also arguing that taxpayers should foot the bill to print Playboy in Braille (American Council for the Blind v. Boorstin).

Obama's initial choice for Commerce secretary, Bill Richardson, stepped aside amid a grand jury investigation into a state contract awarded to his political donors.

Nancy Killefer — stepped down from a newly created position charged with eliminating inefficient government programs due to not paying her taxes. "

" What I find to be absolutely solid-gold-ironic and sterling-hypocritical in the HIGHEST degree is that the Conservative talking heads have come out of the woodwork to criticize and throw barbs at Obama's picks, when there was such a deafening silence when George W picked incompetent religious ideologues and blatant hypocrites to man key positions in his tainted administration.

At the very least, at least Obama's picks are COMPETENT. Or qualified.

What about W's picking of religious fanatics to run agencies dealing with Women's Health, or the AIDs programs, or Meat Industry lobbyists and pharmaceutical lobbyists to run those respective departments?!

Obama picked these people based upon their qualifications--it's not his fault that they didn't have their houses in order. And in the state of utter disrepair that the country is in, he stuck with some of them because of he sheer urgency of needing to get wheels turning.

It's too bad the cynical prognosticators didn't turn that spotlight on the Repubs when it would have mattered--before we got into this mess! "

I does stink that its a "who you know" deal when it comes to getting these very important jobs. "

They have had to make decisions that are purely selfish, self serving. They have left something or someone behind, neglected, sacrificed. What do we expect? Does this still suprise us? We are all humans, and all the imperfect baggage that comes with it. "
