To the person who wrote about the DPW workers that it shouldn't be “nobody's business,” I would think that it would be all the city taxpayers' problem. The money already came out of our pockets. So therefore it should be everybody's concern.
And what about that poor lady that lost her job for writing down that she went to a meeting and received $50, her name spread out in the paper, fired from her job, has to pay restitution, has to take a class, etc. She did not receive even close to $10,000.
The DPW workers should receive the same penalty. Let's not make that all right because it is a friend or family member.

"Maybe they were all guilty of theft or looking the other way."
My point exactly -- the honesty of those who did not steal has been called into question -- by you, in public, just now. Those who did not steal are hanging under a cloud of suspicion they do not deserve, as you yourself have just proven. "

We may well be at an impasse now, thanks to the City Manager's decision, but that doesn't make it a good idea. Yes, it was important to recover stolen property. But it's also important to protect the innocent and not offer up their reputations to protect the not-innocent. It was up to the City Manager to find a way to do both, and he dropped the ball. "
