AUBURN - Three men accused of running a local drug ring pleaded not guilty in Cayuga County Court Tuesday to possessing and selling cocaine.
Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann said Syracuse residents Omar Vann, 32, and Calvin Williams, 29, are accused of coming to Auburn to sell drugs from the 69 Franklin St. home of Benjamin Davis, 69.
All three men are charged with fourth-degree conspiracy to sell drugs, third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, and two counts each of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all felonies.
Vann was also charged with two additional sale and one additional possession counts. He also was charged with fleeing a police officer, a misdemeanor, two days prior to his arrest on Dec. 17.
Police previously said officers originally tried to pull Vann over in connection to the drug investigation, but he sped off and abandoned his vehicle in a field in order to escape on foot.
Three men were arrested after officers executed a search warrant at Davis' home, seizing 14 small plastic bags full of cocaine worth approximately $700, Budelmann said. Police also found $1,000 in cash on Williams, who is accused of supplying the drugs to Vann.
"(Police) found the drugs in the toilet," Budelmann said. "The plastic baggies had air in them, so they couldn't be flushed easily."
Vann and Williams both remain free on bail, while Davis was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of bail, which was set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
