December 15, 2008 (Auburn, NY) Auburn Memorial Hospital (AMH) has upgraded its radiology equipment at its Finger Lakes Medical Center on Grant Avenue and its operating rooms to provide better customer service to its patients and better imaging for its doctors.
The radiology department is using new computed radiography readers and a new C-Arm -- portable fluoroscopy machine.
The new computed radiography readers allow patients a more efficient examination with the doctors. The digital images allow doctors an immediate consultation with a radiologist, rather than waiting for the X-ray to be developed. Also, a finalized report of the X-ray is in the computer system within an hour allowing doctors future access to the image. Because the images are digital, another patient benefit is not physically carrying their X-ray to the hospital.
The new C-Arm machine gives the doctor real-time, digital imaging during surgery and provides them a clearer image during the procedure. Also, the machine is portable, so imaging can be conducted in whatever operating room the patient is in.
Images from both the computed radiography and C-Arm are diacom capable, able to be viewed remotely through the hospitals Picture Archival Communication System (PACS) .
