Clifford, Doyle lead Auburn to CCYO title

The Auburn I Pall Trinity girls seventh and eighth grade CCYO team defeated Groton 27-21 to win the playoffs.
Connor Clifford led Auburn with 13 points while Maggie Doyle added 12.

Emily Alexander, Kristen Scala, Alyssa Zmarthie, Kaitlyn Brewer, Claire Sargent, Lindsay Corey and Nicole VanArsdale led the defensive effort.

The playoff series began with a 36-34 victory over Skaneateles III where eight of the nine Auburn girls scored.

Leading the offense were VanArsdale who contributed six points and Doyle with five.

In game two, Auburn topped Weedsport 38-33 with Clifford scoring 12 points and Sargent tallying 10.

GIRLS FIFTH AND SIXTH GRADE

Auburn Pour Lances 38, Union Springs II 12

Shaylynn Freeman collected 12 points to lead Pour Lances while Meg Ryan, Bridgette Moore and Maggie Smith each scored six points and Paige Langtry added four points.

Kara Hickey, Freeman, Ryan and Smith played well defensively.

Pacing Union Springs was Mary Cornell with six points.

Auburn Pour Lances 40, Southern Cayuga 9

Ryan recorded 10 points, Bridgette Moore added eight, Olivia Johnson, Langtry, Meghan Dann, Freeman and Maggie Smith each finished with four points to lead Pour Lances.

Anna Alberry and Kara Hickey played well defensively for Auburn.

Pacing Southern Cayuga were Ellen Kopp with four points while Bre Schmidt and Ann Bunnell both contributed two points.

BOYS SEVENTH GRADE

Auburn III 28, Auburn II 22

Auburn III's Tommy Alexander scored 11 points, Nick Marinelli collected eight points, Stephen Giannotta added four points and Jake O'Hearn finished with two points.

Troy Parker, Steve Desmone, Noah Hutchingson and Nick Corcoran led the defensive effort for Auburn III.

Kevin Gauthier paced Auburn II with eight points.

Rx City 47, Tom Short Construction 34

Pat Shaw recorded 11 points, Tyler Weslowski finished with 10 points and Eric Sapp added eight points to lead Rx City.

Pacing Tom Short Construction were Roman Blasi who collected 15 points, Casey Scida scored six points and Micah Quigley had four points and eight rebounds.

BOYS FIFTH GRADE

Ron Case Construction 38, Auburn Community FCU 10

Shaun Ferguson led Ron Case Construction with 19 points while JJ O'Connor finished with 12 points and six assists.

Jordan Anthony paced Auburn Community with eight points.

BOYS SIXTH GRADE

Vreeland Hardware 32, J&B Installations 27

Rich Salato scored 11 points to lead Vreeland while Trae'von Tortorici added six points and Danny Marquart posted five.

J&B's Hunter Bowden recorded nine points, Kyle Powers tallied six points and Austin Napolitano finished with two points and six rebounds.

Nevi's Construction 40, Cato 19

Leading Nevi's Construction were Brytan Knapp and Cody Stock with 12 points apiece while Justin Files had six points and five rebounds.

Justin Reinhadt tallied seven points and Mike York added six to pace Cato.

CYO

INSTRUCTIONAL LEAGUE

St. Hyacinth 18, St. Alphonsus I 13

Joe Sabin, Tom Lipiska, Briley Lazio and Chris Smith led St. Hyacinth while Chris Rusin and Spencer Elser paced St. Alphonsus.

BOYS EIGHTH GRADE

Anderson Auto 56, Skaneateles 26

Joe Schillace led Anderson Auto with 18 points while James Feocco and Mike Charles each added 10 points.

Auburn I 51, Weedsport 21

Chris Courtney and Tyler Ladd both picked up 17 points to lead Auburn while Luke Boedicker and Tyler Carroll led defensively.

St. Francis 10, SS. Peter and Paul 8

Leading St. Francis were Francesca Faiola, Paul Fallon and Ray Lopez.

SS. Peter and Paul were paced Michael Pysnack and Briana Tonzi.

St. Alphonsus III 18, Holy Family 8

Evan Donovan and Ryan Chalupnicki led St. Alphonsus while Jimmy Bennink and Quinn Hukee paced Holy Family.

Sacred Heart 23, St. Mary's I 13

Ross Bergmaster, Madelyn Herbert and Mitchell Fanning led Sacred Heart while Rob Dempsey and Josh O'Hora paced St. Mary's.

St. Mary's II 24, St. Alphonsus II 14

Leading St. Mary's were Matt Hesse, Cooper Wilson and Sal Rizzo while Luke Parcels and Parker Hogan paced St. Alphonsus.
