A fire broke out at 3270 Walker Road, Sennett, at about 4:30 Sunday afternoon. It appeared to have originated from a kerosene heater, according to fire officials.
Sennett Fire Chief William Feocco said the single family residence, owned by Patrick Cuzzola, suffered minor damage.
No one was home when the fire set off a smoke detector, which was reported by a neighbor. Feocco said the home appeared to be habitable, although the electric meter was pulled as a safety precaution while interior wiring was being checked for damage.
The incident is still under investigation by the Cayuga County Fire Investigation team.
