NEW YORK -- A state assemblyman says a shorter work week for some state employees would help New York deal with its budget crisis.
Assemblyman Michael Gianaris of Queens is proposing a four-day work week for non-essential employees.
He says the change would save an estimated $30 million a year.
Gov. David Paterson has proposed a budget full of spending cuts and tax and fee increases to combat an estimated $15 billion deficit over two years.
