SANDY CREEK -- More than 200 people packed a northern New York church to remember eight victims killed in a house fire.
Pastor Linda Taber, who led the 20-minute memorial service at the United Methodist Church, spoke about the closeness among those who died and urged mourners to remember the happy times they shared with the victims.
Killed in the fire early Sunday were Robin Dillenbeck and her four children, as well as her fiance, his mother and her boyfriend.
Authorities are still investigating the cause, although they have been focusing on the two wood stoves used to heat the home in Richland, a rural hamlet 40 miles north of Syracuse. The aging, two-story home had no smoke detectors.
Another service is planned Sunday at the Pulaski Wesleyan Church.
