ALBANY — Strong winds blowing northeast across upstate New York reached 75 mph, Sunday morning in the greater Buffalo area, toppling some power poles and trees.
Meteorologists recorded the early peak wind gust at 8:21 a.m. at Buffalo-Niagara International Airport.
Following warm temperatures that brought some flooding, the National Weather Service said a cold front moved across the Finger Lakes region and continued northeast of Lake Ontario, with strong southwest winds that continued through the afternoon at 30 to 40 mph.
The service issued a wind advisory until 10 p.m. for the western and southern Adirondacks, but by evening canceled it for the Mohawk and Schoharie valleys, greater Albany area, the eastern Catskills, and Saratoga and Lake George.
