New Year's resolution for everyone: Get real.
Seems like there's always more bad news than good news day after day in the good ol' U.S.A. Foreclosures, layoffs, unending wars, etc.
Add senseless killings to that. “18-year-old woman shot to death and her 19-year-old friend shot several times in the stomach in serious condition.” And it all happened on Christmas morning in Buffalo. In Syracuse, drive-by shootings have occurred on numerous occasions, all perpetrated in a senseless manner with no apparent reasons. Something is dreadfully wrong with the perpetrators of these crimes. It sends a message loud and clear that these perpetrators have not been brought up with any Christian values whatsoever. Christian parents have a responsibility to bring their children up instilled with Christian values. The most important being the purpose of our creation and that is to interact on behalf of our fellow man for the good of our fellow man. Realistically, most fellow Americans aren't aware of that and those who are aren't doing a heck of a lot to make good on it.
Good parenting is an important responsibility. Everyone needs to make sure their kids grow up to be Christ-like. Looking upon oneself in an I, me, and mine mindset isn't being Christ-like.
Americans, for the most part, are more anti-social than social. No you say. Prove otherwise based on the following:
Most people keep to themselves and their privacy seems to be of top priority. Hardly anyone ever wants to get involved in other people's problems. Let everyone solve their own problems. Unfortunately, when it comes to Christian beliefs, whether we like it or not, we are expected to care deeply about everyone with no exception.
Government, since the Reagan administration, truly has set an extremely bad example for everyone. It has completely abandoned the least of our brethren by slashing social programs and leaving no safety net. Where was the outrage from the majority of Christian Americans? It was minimal at best.
Jesus Christ told us we are all of one flock and need to be brought back into the fold. Yet, here we are in 2009 not getting together because we're mostly totally apathetic and uncaring over matters we should care about. Most of us just don't care to be bothered about caring about everything that would make for a kinder and gentler society.

Really--stop and ponder that for a minute.
What we need is for the damned religionists to get the HELL out of politics, and get back to the business of saving their flocks in their Churches--NOT by force of legal coercion! You can NOT legislate and impose Religion and "religious values"!!! "

it takes GOOD parents PERIOD!
I have 4 kids-raised by the same 2 parents and NONE are alike! however I am lucky that their 'feet are grounded' and they 'do have good morals and values'
through the years they may NOT have always done what I would have liked
(normal teen stuff) but they never turned to gangs, guns, or violence..
parenting is a tough job! no amount of books on the market or churches can MAKE a child what YOU want them to be.
for me the key was/is; attention, comunication, and love! "
