HIT: To all of the groups, bands, choruses and other organizations that entertained, fundraised, cooked dinners and did other things to help those less fortunate during the Christmas season.
Christmas is all about giving, and the greatest gift is someone helping those who are in need. If you did anything that made someone else Christmas a little better, we say thank you.
MISS: To the severe weather last Friday that affected the fundraising for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign.
The Friday before Christmas is usually the Salvation Army's second biggest day of the year. Because of the storm, the campaign is short $7,000 of the $45,000 goal.
Christmas may be past but the Salvation Army helps people throughout the year with the funds you give when you contribute to a Red Kettle.
Donations can be given online at www.onlineredkettle.org or you may mail a donation to the Salvation Army, 18 Genesee St., Auburn, NY 13021.
HIT: To the Buffalo Bills, who woke up from their slump to play spoiler. The Bills upset the Denver Broncos on the road, preventing the Broncos from clinching their division.
The Bills squandered their fast 5-1 start, teasing fans that were hoping they were going to make the playoffs for the first time in almost 10 years.
But Buffalo has embraced its role as spoiler and has another chance this Sunday when they host the Patriots, another team that has to win to have a chance to play in the postseason.
HIT: To snowmobile safety courses. With all the snow we've recently received, it's nice to see snowmobilers taking advantage of the course.
But sadly, somewhere in the state, a snowmobiler will die in an accident that could have been prevented. That's why safety courses are so important. The majority of snowmobilers have already taken one but for anyone who is new to the sport, a safety course could be a lifesaver.
