COMMACK — His family says a driver was suffering from bleeding on the brain when police said he ran a roadblock and Tasered him. Barry Thill’s son, Barry Jr., said Saturday his father’s condition precipitated the episode Friday in Commack.
Suffolk County police say the elder Thill drove around police barricades set up after a deadly wreck on a Long Island Expressway service road. Police say officers cornered and then Tasered him after he ignored orders to pull over. The 62-year-old Thill was taken for medical evaluation at a hospital, where his medical condition was discovered. He apparently hadn’t known about it.
Police say he was cited with failing to comply with a police officer and released on an appearance ticket.
