Wignall propels Warriors to big win over Red Raiders

Sean Wignall led the Weedsport swimming team to a 109-68 win over Fulton, Thursday. He took first in the 50 freestyle (24.77) and the 100 breaststroke (1:10.41).

Wignall teamed up with Nathan Earl, Matt Crowley and Adam Rude to take first in the 200 medley relay (1:51.66). Earl came in first in the 100 backstroke (1:00.43) and 100 freestyle (53.28). Crowley won the 100 butterfly (1:00.77), while Josh Bilger earned first in diving (181.75).

Mike Reese placed first in the 200 freestyle (2:02.35) and 500 freestyle (5:39.22). Erin Reilley, Samantha Black, Marybeth Deigo and Beth Wright won the 200 free relay (2:00.96).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Weedsport 57, Tully 54

Allison Roosa powered the Warriors with 18 points, while the team recorded another game with three players scoring in the double-digits. Margaret Roberts had a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Kaitlin Hammersley finished with 13 points and five rebounds. She currently is 16 points away from 1,000 all-time.

Brittany LaForce finished with five points, while Jordan Roe had three and Tonya Hinman and Sharra Brentlinger each scored two.

Weedsport (6-2 overall, 5-1 league) participates in the Cayuga County Holiday Tournament against Southern Cayuga, Friday.

Bishop Grimes 60, Port Byron 32

Kaitlynne Knapp, Nica Dare and Ali Short each scored eight points for the Panthers. Knapp had a team high 16 rebounds and eight blocks, while Short finished with four steals. Shelby Gilbert scored six, assisted five and stole four.

Onondaga Central School 42, Cato-Meridian 23

Meghan Meeks led the Blue Devils with 10 points, while Kristi Garrigan had five.

Cato-Meridian (0-4) travels to Cayuga Community College to play Tyburn Academy, Monday.

VOLLEYBALL

Skaneateles 3, Mexico 0

Chloe Warner finished with a team high of 12 assists, while also having two kills in the 25-13, 25-21, 25-21 win. Ryan Merle finished with a team-high of 13 kills and two blocks.

Alexa Campanile led the defense with 21 digs and Erin Callahan had nine.

Skaneateles (6-0) travels to Hannibal today.
