HIT: To the closing of the Adam Walsh case. After 27 years, Hollywood, Fla. police have identified the person they believe was responsible for the death of the 6-year-old son of Auburn native John Walsh.
Walsh turned a great tragedy into something positive, getting laws passed to make law enforcement spread the word about missing children. Of course, we are familiar with the television show that Walsh help create, “America's Most Wanted,” which has helped get hundreds of criminals off the streets.
For all that Walsh and his family have done to help others, it was good to see them have some closure and relief.
MISS: To the Buffalo Bills and their incredible loss to the New York Jets last weekend. Nursing a three-point lead with a little more than two minutes left, the Bills defied conventional football wisdom and tried to pass, instead of a safe run.
As you probably already know, Bills quarterback JP Losman was hit, fumbled and the Jets returned the miscue for a game-winning touchdown.
To compound Bills' fan misery, unpopular coach Dick Jauron has been reported to have signed a contract extension, making it unlikely he could be dismissed for his team's poor season, the ninth straight in which the team has failed to make the NFL playoffs.
We do have some encouraging words for Bills fans - at least you don't root for the 0-14 Detroit Lions.
HIT: To the annual Union Springs school holiday luncheon for senior citizens. The district serves the seniors lunch and entertains them with a band concert.
What a lovely way to tell seniors that they are being thought of during the holidays.
HIT: To the safe return of family and friends for the holidays. Whether they have come from near or far, seeing loved ones is always a highlight of the holidays.
