Congress acting like hypocrites on auto bailout

Thursday, December 18, 2008 12:05 AM EST

While President Bush and the Republicans in Congress block an effort to save our American auto industry, foreign countries have already come to the aid of theirs. France, Germany and Italy have provided billions to their auto companies as the auto sales drop is worldwide and has affected even the Japanese brands. Of course Japan has helped their companies for years in the form of technical assistance as well as the free health care they provide which reduces the costs of their autos built in their country.
The foreign automakers are building in this country benefit from zero pension costs due to a younger workforce. They have located in union-busting southern states whose senators once approved incentives and tax breaks for them to do so. Now these same senators oppose helping the American auto industry. Can anyone say conflict of interest?

" Hmmm... Free health care, eh? Never been to any of those countries, or known people who pay taxes there do you Mr. Hanley. Socialist health programs come at tremendous cost to the rank and file taxpayers, and are not free. To say they have no peneion costs is idiocy, because of course, they're funding pensions...just not at the same bloated rate of UAW contract levels. Facts would be helpful in your understanding. All governments that tout "free" social health care are all now calling their plans "underfunded" which is government speak for "we want more of your money" "
