State police in Auburn charged a 26-year-old man after a five-year-old boy suffered a serious head injury on Tuesday.
State police went to a residence on Hinman Road in the town of Summerhill with the Homer Fire Department and Four Towns ambulance for the report of a child who hit his head and was unconscious.
The boy was transported to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse for emergency surgery and is listed in stable condition.
State police charged Jamie S. Hopkins with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Hopkins was arraigned in Town of Aurelius Court and was committed to the Cayuga County Jail on $50,000/$100,000 bail.
