A new nursing home quality rating system released today by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services gave three of the five facilities operating in Cayuga County the lowest rating.
The new ratings are available at the CMS Web site at www.medicare.gov.
The rating system looked at information related to inspection data, staffing and quality of care measurements. The ratings range from 1 to 5 stars, with 5 being “much above average,” four is “above average,” three means “about average,” two is “below average” and one is “much below average.”
Local nursing home ratings:
Auburn Nursing Home -- 3 stars
Cayuga County Nursing Home -- 1 star
Finger Lakes center for Living -- 4 stars
Mercy Health and Rehab center -- 1 star
Northwoods Rehab Extended Care facility -- 1 star
