Two Auburn homes were struck by cars Thursday morning and the Auburn Police Department said two very different explanations are behind the accidents.

In the first incident, police accused Nicholas F. Fedor, 24, of 92 North Division St., of driving while intoxicated after he ran a stop sign, struck a guardrail and then hit a car parked in the driveway of a home at 69 North Division St., causing that vehicle to hit the house.

That crash occurred at about midnight, and Fedor had a .27 blood alcohol content, police said. The legal limit is .08.

Fedor was charged with aggravated DWI and driving while intoxicated, both misdemeanors, in addition to being ticketed for running a stop sign.

Police said no injuries were reported and the home suffered minor damage.

In a second accident, a 22-year-old woman lost control of her car when she hit a patch of ice and struck a house at 19 Delevan St. at 7:40 a.m., police said.

Police believe Candace Schnaare, of Capital Street, accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes and lost control of the car. As a result, Schnaare's car struck the house, severely damaging the front porch and foundation.

Schnaare was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Three Auburn houses have now been struck by vehicles in the past week, according to police reports.

Last Friday, Jeffrey A. Kastick, 55, of Throop, lost control of his Chevrolet Cobalt and struck a home at 331 Clark St. Kastick was transported to University Hospital and later released.
