A local man was arrested by the Auburn Police Department after he was accused of stealing nearly $1,500 in checks from his former employer, police said.
John T. Donovan Jr., 32, of 29 Walnut St., Auburn, was charged with felony grand larceny for allegedly stealing a $1,224 check and petit larceny for allegedly stealing a $357 check from Top Dog Funding, police said.
Donovan was supposed to pick up the checks and return them to the business.
Donovan is also facing charges for burglarizing Quality Rentals on Genesee Street in a separate incident, police said.
In that incident, Donovan and a co-defendant, Dale Cuddeback, 30, of 32 S. Lewis St., Auburn, are accused of using inside information to break into the store to steal cash before the money could be taken to the bank.
Both men were former employees of that business.
Cuddeback was also charged with grand larceny by the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office on Nov. 19 after he was accused of stealing customer deposits from another former employer, H&L Ford on Grant Avenue.
Both men have been released on bail.
