ALBANY — Gov. David Paterson said Tuesday that New Yorkers can expect increases in user fees in his Dec. 16 budget proposal, but no increases in broad-based taxes such as income taxes.
Paterson also says he still expects his proposal to cap the growth in school property taxes to become law. The Legislature refused to approve it this year.
Paterson didn’t specify what fees would be increased. But the state charges fees for entry to parks, state golf courses and other facilities as well as for licenses to drive, to work in a profession, to hunt and register vehicles and to enroll in public colleges.
