The Auburn Police Department's service calls declined for the fourth straight month in November, police said.
According to the November activity report, Auburn police responded to 140 burglary, assault, larceny, criminal mischief and drug-related calls, which was down from 193 in October. Officers arrested 99 individuals for a total of 146 charges. In October, police arrested 117 people with 199 charges.
While police responded to 1,666 calls for service in October, that number decreased to 1,589 in November. Calls have been declining each month since they peaked at 2,095 in July.
While police made more traffic stops in November than in October, they issued fewer traffic tickets. In November, police stopped 163 vehicles and wrote 113 tickets. In October, officers made 118 stops and issued 201 tickets.
The detectives bureau also saw a decrease in activity in November, with 53 new cases opened and 51 previously assigned cases closed. In October, detectives received 66 new cases and closed 82 previously assigned ones.
While school resource officers handled fewer incidents in November than in October, the number of arrests they made increased. Officers responded to 67 incidents and made five arrests last month. In October, they arrested three individuals and responded to 171 incidents.
The APD will also begin field training for four new officers who have completed the academic portion of the police academy. Upon the successful completion of the 16-week field training program, the officers will receive a certification from the academy and will be eligible for patrol duties.
