A masked man with a handgun stole almost $1,000 from a local gas station Thursday night, law enforcement officials said Friday.
According to the state police, officers responded to a reported robbery at approximately 11 p.m. at the Kwik Fill gas station on Grant Avenue and Gates Road in Sennett. Police say a man dressed in black entered the store, showed the cashier a handgun and demanded money.
The clerk gave at least $900 to the suspect, who then fled, according to the state police. Law enforcement officials are continuing to investigate the incident and are analyzing footage from security cameras installed at the gas station.
The clerk was treated at Auburn Memorial Hospital for anxiety-related issues, though there were no visible injuries on her person, according to the state police. Investigators described the man as at least six feet tall and thin. He was wearing a black mask at the time of the robbery.
The Cayuga County Sheriff's office and Auburn Police Department are assisting in the investigation. State police officials ask anyone with information to call 253-3103.
