The National Weather Service has issued a lake effect snow advisory for the local area on Sunday.
An Arctic cold front is supposed to pass through the region between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday. This will bring along lake effect snow showers with heavy winds that may substantially reduce visibility.
During the afternoon, snowfall rates may reach an inch per hour, and winds will be sustained between 20 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Blowing and drifting snow could present problems.
Total accumulations by Sunday evening are expected to reach 2 to 6 inches.
