Clear winter day a good day for solitude, reflection

Thursday, December 4, 2008 12:07 AM EST

Monday morning, and although the barometer has fallen to below 29 millibars, this morning the sun is shining and I see no clouds out the west window. I feel big change from yesterday's rain, snow, sleet and stormy weather. With the barometer reading so low, telling of stormy weather to follow, the sunny, clear sky is a welcome sign, this early morning.
This kind of morning makes my mind open a door to something in life, that far too often we overlook. It is a very important need we all have, but almost always just plain forget, in the busy life we lead.

What is this door we should open? As often as you can, be it daily, weekly or monthly, I propose that you take one hour to be alone with yourself. It doesn't matter where or when, but you must be alone, with nothing but total silence, uninterrupted time with just you. Open your mind to what you know to be good about this life you have been given, and be thankful!
