AUBURN - An Auburn drug dealer admitted in Cayuga County Court Tuesday that after he sold an underage customer a bag of marijuana and taught him how to roll it into a cigarette, he went to some nearby woods to smoke the illegal substance with him.
“He came to my house and asked me if I would sell him some weed,” said Brian Coff, 26, of 47 Frazee St., Auburn. “I said yes and he came back a little bit later and I sold him a bag of it. Then I rolled a blunt for him because he didn't know how. Then we went out to the woods and smoked the (marijuana.)”
The plea also satisfied a felony count of second-degree criminal sale of marijuana.
In exchange for pleading guilty to felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth-degree, Coff was promised a sentence of shock probation.
Coff is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 13.
Also in court:
#&149; A repeat drug dealer was sentenced to four years in prison with three years of post-release supervision for selling cocaine in 2007.
Bruce Wingate, 24, of 8 Wallace Ave., Auburn, asked for a shorter, 3.5-year sentence, when he apologized for his actions to Cayuga County Judge Mark Fandrich, but the request was denied.
Fandrich said that given the length of his criminal record, which included a 2007 drug conviction that occurred three months prior to when he was arrested for the current charges, the prison sentence was appropriate.
Wingate was also sentenced to 1.5 years in prison with two years of post-release supervision for violating his probation by being convicted on the current drug charge.
Both sentences will run concurrent to each other.
#&149; Adam Roof, 17, of 136 Osborne St., Auburn, pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary for breaking into an Owasco barn on Jan. 18.
Fandrich said he would review Roof's school and attendance records before he would commit to a decision on whether or not Roof will receive youthful offender status when he is sentenced on Jan. 13.
#&149; Clint Gamlen, 41, of 30 Hockeborn Ave., Auburn, pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony.
Gamlen is expected to receive 3.5 years in prison when he is sentenced on Jan. 13.
