The National Weather has put out a winter weather advisory for much of central New York and the southern tier regions, an advisory that includes the southern half of Cayuga County.
The NWS said snow, sleet and freezing rain are expected to fall across the advisory starting around 2 p.m. today. The advisory runs through 5 a.m.

Most accumulation is expected in higher elevations. About 1 to 2 inches of mixed accumulation is predicted for today, with freezing rain overnight that could make roads dangerous.
