HIT: To the Syracuse University men's basketball team and its pair of quality victories this week. On Monday, the Orange defeated No. 17 Florida.

On Tuesday, it got even better as Syracuse rallied from a 13-point deficit to stun No. 22 Kansas in overtime.

The Orange are showing they will be a force to be reckoned with in the competitive Big East this year and their run of two straight seasons without an NCAA Tournament appearance will hopefully end.

HIT: To an Auburn native who returned and gave something back to his hometown.

Kevin Polcovich, an Auburn High School graduate, who overcame great odds to play two seasons of major league baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1997 and 1998, put on an instructional clinic for youngsters this past week.

Since it's been a decade since Polcovich played in the majors, this group has never seen his work ethic, hopefully, some of it rubbed off on them and who knows, maybe a future big leaguer was made?

MISS: To the insanity plea of an Elbridge man in the death of his parents. Joseph Bisesi believed his parents were criminal impostors and he was an undercover operative working under orders from the CIA to kill them. This plea concludes a case that has been horribly tragic, and it underscores the importance of mental health care.

HIT: To the generosity of the community to help provide Thanksgiving meals to the underprivileged. Whether it was donating food or money, cooking or delivering meals, the contributions meant even more this year.
