The Jordan-Elbridge High School Business Department held its first induction ceremony of the Jordan-Elbridge Chapter of the New York State Business and Marketing Honor Society Wednesday, Nov. 19. The inductees included seniors Gloria Aldrich, Christian Berwind, Katie Dungey, Sarah Fordyce, Melissa Hrynyk, Elizabeth Reed, Joseph Ripa and Calli Rogers; juniors Kelsey Armani, Allison Donohue, Lindsy Geery, Kate Humphreys and Trista Williams, and sophomore Jason Manrow.
High School teachers Pat Doerr, Tracey Dougherty, Diane Gleason and Karen Smith presented the honor to the students. Attending the ceremony were high school guidance counselors Jamie Susino and Rob McIntyre, associate principal Karen Lang, principal Dave Zehner, board of education president Mary Alley and superintendent Marilyn J. Dominick. The student inductees and their families enjoyed a breakfast ceremony in honor their memorable achievement.
The primary purpose of the New York State Business and Marketing Honor Society is to recognize students throughout New York state who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in a secondary business program.
For students to be eligible, they must meet the following criteria:
#&149; They must be currently enrolled in business courses
#&149; Seniors must complete three credits in business prior to graduation
#&149; Juniors and sophomores must complete two credits in business and need to take an additional business course prior to graduation
#&149; The students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 88 percent in business courses and an 80 percent overall grade point average
#&149; Students must also demonstrate character, leadership and service in school and in the community

#&149; The Jordan-Elbridge Cross Country team was declared co-champions of the Section III, Class C race with Holland Patent with 62 points.
Cody Stanton won the Section III Class C Cross Country Championship with a time of 16 minutes and 32 seconds. Mike Marrero took 4th place. Team members include Mitch Alpha, Greg Bader, Tom Badman, Kyle Becker, Carlin Coomey, John Flynn, Tom Poppe and Steve Slonosky.
Holland Patent represented Section III as a team because of the tie-breaker rule. JE's Cody Stanton and Mike Marerro represented J-E at the State Competition. Stanton placed fifth, while Marrero took 13th in the state.
#&149; The district is offering two dates for a facilities tour of the schools. The tours are scheduled for Saturday, November 29 and Saturday, December 6th at 1 p.m. The tour will begin at the J-E Middle School, 9 North Chappell St., Jordan and then proceed to Ramsdell Elementary, Elbridge Elementary and the high school.
