Thanksgiving is upon us. A poem I'll try to write. I've thought about it quite a while, I'll venture to take the plight.
Most people say the Pilgrims set this traditional day of praise. But I feel it started long before, in the earth's beginning days.
For in the beginning was the Word, then God made seas and land. He filled the seas with fishes, and said it all was grand.
The animals He made plenty; all sizes, colors and shapes. If I should choose a favorite, I'm sure it'd be the ape.
Then God in His infinite wisdom, made the wonderful person of man. And woman He gave as a helpmate. All was good in His original plan.
After His work was all finished, for our example He did rest. This was the first Thanksgiving, God was pleased He gave His best.
Down through the many ages, as the pages of history do show. God's hand has always been on us, ready with love to bestow.
We're grateful for the courageous. Let's not leave the Pilgrims out. Nor the traditions of the turkey, they mean a lot, no doubt.
These special days we treasure, as friends and family gather 'round. With jokes, stories and singing. How I love these joyful sounds.
Reflections of our blessings, come deep from within our souls. The prayers that have been answered, are far too numerous to behold.
May the coming days ahead, be blessed with bounties from above. And most of all we pray for you, a large share of Christ's love.
Happy Thanksgiving and blessings of the season!
