COVENTRY -- _ A 14-year-old upstate New York boy is dead after his sled collided with an oncoming car.

Authorities say Robert Baxter of Coventry was sledding down a private driveway when he slid into the path of car driven by 27-year-old Jason Poss. Poss couldn't see the boy coming down the driveway because of trees and bushes blocking his view, and was unable to stop in time. He and his passenger were not injured.

Baxter was taken to an area hospital, where he died of internal injuries.

Chenango County Sheriff's deputies have not said whether charges will be filed.

Coventry is about 56 miles southeast of Syracuse.
