The city of Auburn will likely accept a large donation today meant to fund half of a long-term planning project.
City council is scheduled the vote today during on a resolution accepting a $58,000 grant from the Stardust Foundation of Central New York.
The grant will go toward the city's 10-year, comprehensive plan, which is currently under development.
The vote will take place at the council's weekly meeting, which was moved up two days because of Thanksgiving. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at Memorial City Hall, 24 South St.
The plan will essentially establish guidelines for the city's growth and it will be the basis for future policy decisions on land use, housing, downtown, green energy and infrastructure, technology, transportation and other issues. The city recently held two public workshops for residents to offer input to the process.
The city will fund the remainder of the projects, which is being conducted by the consulting firm Saratoga Associates.
It is expected to be finished by September 2009, according to city officials.
