City parking laws not enforced fairly

Saturday, November 22, 2008 11:40 PM EST

I live on a side street in Auburn. I happened to be parked on the wrong side of the street overnight and received a parking ticket. I have no problem accepting my guilt in this manner.
However, why is it that the next night a very “well to do” neighbor of mine was parked on the wrong side and in the morning, there were no tickets to be found on his windshield?

I would like to know how the city decides who gets tickets and who does not.

" Yes the police should spend most of their resources ticketing illegally parked cars. Why work on assaults, burglaries, drug crimes and the other serious crimes? They don't create as much revenue as parking fines and the citizens of Auburn can protect themselves against the criminals but your cars will be parked where they should be. "

" They run the plate and only ticket scumbags. I got one about a week ago. "

" I think if they are going to put such a law into effect, they should enforce it for everyone, everywhere. Every night there are still cars parked up and down both sides of my street. No one has gotten any tickets. I don't think they remember the VanAnden, Washington St, Wall St, and Seymour St. section. The parking on the corner of Washington and Orchard is awful! There's going to be an accident there someday. I think the police need to be out there enforcing the law everywhere not just in spurts, here and there. "
