Lake effect snow warnings remain in effect today for all of Cayuga County, the National Weather Service reports.
For the county's southern half, the warning is set to expire at 10 a.m. Sunday. Snowfall rates may slow a little during the afternoon today, but they will pick up again tonight. The NWS is predicting an additional 4 to 6 inches today and 3 to 5 inches tonight in the most persistent bands.
In the northern Cayuga County, the warning runs through 6 p.m. today. The NWS says the most persistent bands of the snow will see another 6 inches of accumulation.
Drivers are urged to stay off roads. If they do drive, they should be prepared for rapidly changing conditions, with extremely poor road conditions and limited visibility.
