Earlier today, the advisory had been issued only for the northern half, which has seen several inches of snow today already.
The NWS said occasional snow showers in the southern half of the county will turn into a more organized lake effect system overnight, creating snowfall rates of an inch per hour in some places. Whiteout conditions are possible.
Total accumulation of 2 to 5 inches is predicted by noon Tuesday, with the highest amounts along the Thruway corridor.
