AUBURN - A local couple pleaded not guilty in Cayuga County Court Thursday to a combined total of 38 felony drug related charges.
Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann said Luyette Wilder, 34, of 14 Grover St., apartment 1, Auburn, and Krista Huey, 23, of 141 Perrine St., Auburn, are both accused of selling nearly $500 in cocaine to confidential informants between August 2007, and October 2008.
The defendants have had a romantic relationship, Budelmann said. Wilder is accused of setting up most of the drug deals and that Huey is accused of making the sales.
According to a Cayuga County Grand Jury indictment, the couple is also accused of possessing $5,194 and 7.2 grams of cocaine when they were apprehended by the Auburn Police Department on Oct. 9.
Budelmann said investigators believe the drugs came from a supplier in Wayne County, but detectives do not know who that person is.
Wilder, who pleaded not guilty to fourth-degree conspiracy, 10 counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third-degree, 10 counts of possession of a narcotic drug in the third-degree, one count of possession of a controlled substance in the third-degree and one count of possession of a narcotic drug in the fourth-degree, will remain in the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of bail, which is set at $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.
Huey, who pleaded not guilty to fourth-degree conspiracy, seven counts of criminal possession of a narcotic drug in the third-degree, six counts of criminal possession of a narcotic drug in the third-degree and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth-degree, will remain at the jail in lieu of bail, which was set at $7,500 cash or $15,000 bond.
Also in court:
€ A local man who was originally stopped by police for allegedly doing 82 mph in a 55 mph speed zone could face 25 years to life in prison after he was also accused of operating his vehicle while intoxicated, which is a felony.
Budelmann said Alan Edwards Sr., 54, of 13446 Route 90, Locke, could qualify as a persistent felony offender if he is convicted because of driving under the influence convictions in 1976, 1980, 1996 and 2000.
In the 1980 incident, Edwards was also convicted of two counts of negligent homicide.
Edwards was sent to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of bail, which was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
€ A local man faces six years in prison with five years of post-release supervision after he pleaded guilty to the criminal sale of a narcotic drug and assault, both felonies.
Michael Maycumber, 26, of 22 Washington St., Auburn, received a five-year prison sentence with five years of post-release supervision for the assault, and six years in prison with three years of post-release supervision for the drug sale.
Both sentences will run concurrent to each other.
Maycumber also received an additional 2.5 years of post-release supervision for a 2002 burglary conviction because a previous judge forgot to add the punishment to the end of a six-year prison sentence. That post release will be served consecutively to the five years he just received.
€ Christopher Crofoot, 22, of 42 Frances St., apartment 2, Auburn was sentenced to weekends in jail for four months in addition to five years probation for the felony sale of marijuana.
€ George Cheney, 51, of 4757 Route 34B, Auburn, pleaded not guilty to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, a felony; leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor; and exposure of a person, an infraction.
€ Derek Cayirliogullari, 18, of 4 Vandenbosch Ave., Auburn, pleaded guilty to felony grand larceny and misdemeanor assault.
No sentence recommendations were made, but Cayirliogullari could be eligible for youthful offender.
