The American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and American Lung Association issued a press release Wednesday to announce the launch of the "Tax Ticker," which estimates the state is losing $600 million per year in revenue, or $19.08 per second.
The ticker can be found at www.alany.org/tobaccotaxticker.
Legislation to establish a system for collecting the sales taxes is waiting for approval or rejection by Gov. David Paterson.
Indian-owned retailers have said they are exempt from sales tax collection because they are part of sovereign Indian nations.
