"Tax ticker" tallies impact of uncollected sales taxes
A group of public health organizations has launched a Web site that purports to tally revenue New York state is losing every second by not collecting cigarette sales taxes on transactions made by Indian-owned retailers to non-Indians.
The American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and American Lung Association issued a press release Wednesday to announce the launch of the "Tax Ticker," which estimates the state is losing $600 million per year in revenue, or $19.08 per second.
