Do the voters in District 15 realize that the reason Cindy Aikman no longer works for the city's Planning Department is because she is not a team player. To Cindy Aikman, it's her way or the highway.
If Obama is a Socialist, then all his supporters are Socialists. This inevitable numbskull logic is the same garbage that will keep this country divided and keep real problems from getting solved.
When I think about it, Obama and David Duke are alike in some ways; little experience in government, but articulate and attractive with good fashion sense. Also both have histories that worry me.
Obama's fundraising via the Internet makes me wonder if a presidential campaign has now outsourced its funding.

And regardless what papers u have, it d/n matter much unless u are flapping them in the breeze to the powers that be at that moment. My mother had a DNR on file at the nursing hoome and when she went into cardiac arrest, 5 people worked on her for over 30 minutes in three (NH/AMB/ER) locations. I dont comprehend why the idea of legal papers has superceded the desire of gay people to be married if they so wish? Paper is paper but to some what peice really matters is a license.

You can also have copies in your medical file!!
You can also have your lawyer, your parents, your siblings, whomever you like to have copies!
I dont see where I am being cold..when in fact many man/woman marriages fail to do the paperwork and have the same troubles concerning PARENTS who disagree!
even when a couple has married for 10+years, mom or dad may NOT like the spouse and take it to court.
NO ONE can dispute a 'paper' as long as it is properly signed, sealed, and delivered!
on the flip side, even being married to a man, if I choose to NOT want him in or at my hospital room, Not to make my medical decisions, not to recieve my life insurance, not to have any say in my funeral, I can type up a paper and notorize it, make sure all those I want to have it do, and my wishes must be followed!!!
just as he can do the same to me.
sorry, but reality is if you want something done,
1. do it yourself
2. do your paperwork properly
3. make it known to all that might disagree.
you tell me> why should gays have any more rights than you and your girlfriend have right now?
you're not married..
1. does SHE have the power to decide to pull the plug?
2. does she have the power to decide where you are to be buried and how?
3. does she have the power to dispurse your bank accounts, your belongings, your motorcycle to whomever she pleases?
4. does she have the power to control anything of your estate?
UNLESS YOU do your paperwork--your parents decide everything should you become incapacitated!

I could think of a dozen situations where a person with a health care plan already in place would be severely injured unexpectedly and close to death, and you think that somebody has the time to sit there and sort through some damned paperwork?!?! You think a hospital is going to broach its rules when a person is in danger of imminent death because of a piece of paper?!
If it were that easy, cm, it wouldn't be an issue! But of course, I strongly suspect that you already know this. You seem to have an answer for everything, huh?
You are truly an Ice Queen. Seriously--what happened to you to make you so heartless and unfeeling? I shudder to think that you actually have children around you under your influence.

For your information, there are over 1,400 rights that Gay people are denied under the law by being denied "married" status. These include the right to be at oe partner's bedside during illness or even death in a hospital, and coverage under insurance plans to name a few of the bigger issues. Not to mention possession of property to which you alluded.

They do not take out advertising campaigns on issues of public policy!
A tax-exempt organization must prove that it serves the Public Interest--AS OPPOSED TO A PRIVATE INTEREST--in order to qualify. Therefore, they can NOT push private, partisan issues in political roles!
Consider this, people--a tax exempted is a tax on the rest of us. It effectively shifts the burden to the rest of society, In this respect, it does not discriminate as to upon whom that burden falls.
Therefore it can NOT lobby for its own PRIVATE INTERESTS!
If you donate 1,000 to a church, and are in the 30% tax bracket, you deny the government $300 dollars of that taxable figure otherwise. Multiply that by millions of taxpayers, and you can see very easily how that deficit impacts the government and ALL citizen!
So when a Church is lobbying against the political interest of ANY citizens, it is BY DEFINITION violating the very letter of the law, as well as the underlying principle which supports that law!
If churches want to politic, they SHOULD pay taxes on their income then! "

He's telling the Religious Right that it's time to get the hell out of politics:
"Too many conservative evangelicals have put too much faith in the power of government to transform culture. The futility inherent in such misplaced faith can be demonstrated by asking these activists a simple question: Does the secular left, when it holds power, persuade conservatives to live by their standards? Of course they do not. Why, then, would conservative evangelicals expect people who do not share their worldview and view of God to accept their beliefs when they control government?
"If results are what conservative evangelicals want, they already have a model. It is contained in the life and commands of Jesus of Nazareth. Suppose millions of conservative evangelicals engaged in an old and proven type of radical behavior. Suppose they followed the admonition of Jesus to "love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit those in prison and care for widows and orphans," not as ends, as so many liberals do by using government, but as a means of demonstrating God's love for the whole person in order that people might seek Him?"
"Evangelicals are at a junction. They can take the path that will lead them to more futility and ineffective attempts to reform culture through government, or they can embrace the far more powerful methods outlined by the One they claim to follow. By following His example, they will decrease, but He will increase. They will get no credit, but they will see results. If conservative evangelicals choose obscurity and seek to glorify God, they will get much of what they hope for, but can never achieve, in and through politics."
Sigh...if only they would LISTEN!!! "

my son was only 14 when his lil sis was born, he witnessed responsibility of parents juggling jobs and caring for a baby..he kept his head straight.
my oldest son witnessed his dad have 3 kids with 3 different moms, struggling to pay support and live on the wild side..that totally turned him off to kids until he is settled..one would think owning a house, 2 cars, and having your own business is settled, but not in his eyes..He says he a more to do before taking on a child.
my daughter is planning her home-buying based on school district for her future kids.
none of them are perfect --nor has any kids been, but they are great kids and do use their brains!
I have a few years yet for the 'next' teen, so far shes a straight A student and reads on the 6th grade level. she just began 4th grade. she always asks questions and knows we will answer her good or bad with the truth.
again I think talking with your kids, being honest, explaining the pro/cons, along with why you agree or disagree is better than 'because I said so' "

I was semi-strict, they did follow the rules and rarely broke them, however they were kids and kids are to be treated fairly.
there isnt NOTHING they couldnt of come to me and talk about, in fact I always engaged conversation about girls/boys and REAL life, not the stuff they see on TV.
My oldest is 27-with the same girl for 6 yrs-they own a house-have their own business, and he has a band, plus teaches high school marching band. They have no kids and dont plan to have none for about 5 yrs!
my daughter who's 21--NO KIDS either, and doesnt plan to for about 2 yrs, her and her boyfriend have been together for 3yrs, they are planning to buy the house first-- next year.
because my middle TALKed about when he wanted kids, understood the responsibility of having kids, and waited until he was 20---
I think speaks alot for my parenting!
I would never want my kids to totally fear me, its one thing to have rules and to be disciplined but FEAR your parents--to me thats just plain shameful.
having fear will NOT bring them to you when they need you!
they may respect you but your neighbors or other family members would know YOUR kids better than you do, for there is where they will hide and confide! "

well, then youre not that great of a parent CM. And its that very attitude that kids today thrive off of.
I remember VERY WELL being a teen. And nothing changed for me - when i was 5 or 15 - the rules in my home were set forth by my parents and were strictly enforced. And I abided by them. I knew what to do, and what not to do as I knew I had to face the consequences, and my parents for that matter. And believe me I was in all kinds of various perdiciments where I had to make a choice. Your kids need some fear put into them...because if they dont fear you in regards to making bad decisions then they will never learn and will most likely wind up in bigger trouble than you can imagine. Well said Brew1234...Obama's victory is for the whole country. People of all races, creeds, social and economic backgrounds, etc. have all spoken loud and clear. Americans are simply tierd of the eliteists and the beaurocratic BS thats been crippling this country for quite a long time. The Bush Administration on the whole should be ashamed of themselves. Bush hand picked the people around him so that whatever he wanted they would fully support. And That administration did whatever they wanted without regard and careful review. And when those on Capitol Hill tried to stop them, they stepped around the law to get what they wanted. Too bad to the rest of you Republican Conservatives - your Messiah (GW) ruined any chance of McCain getting elected. And in all honesty, McCain wouldnt of been a bad choice for president either, its just that he was associated with the likes of the Bush Administration. Thank god that moron is going to be out of office...he single handed raped this country with his "fight on terrorism" pitch. And most of you suckers bought into it. Just think how much money his defense contrator buddies and Halliburton made off of this mess. Thats what people dont understand. "

my son has also never been without a job since he was 16, I call that very responsible!
I dont think its awful parenting--having your child be able to talk to you about their wishes and why..
or about sex and having kids.
he is a guy who loves kids!
he would get home from school before I got home from work, he would go next door and get his little sister and tend to her until I got home.
the two of them are very close, closer than than 2 girls are!
my older daughter is very prissy and always has been. the 9yr old is a tomboy, so that adds alot to their closeness..
the tomboy likes to play baseball and go fishing, and catch lizards & frogs..the priss would never do such a thing!
karl you always go against abstinence but in some cases it DOES work, in some cases condoms or birth control works, and in some cases parents keeping an open door policy for talking works.
yet there is no ONE right way or wrong way, because teens will do what they want very few can be 'brainwashed'
(remember, you were a teen!)
as you tell me NOT to, you are summerizing teens into a group that conforms to one ideal...we all know thats BS!
now tell me, how many kids do you have?
how many teens living with you, have you steered thru the tough years?
(for me, 3 kids of mine, 2 sisters)

If your middle school son talked about having a son/baby when he was 16, then you've done an AWFUL job of parenting him! 16-year-olds should be thinking of doing something with their lives and careers rather than just breeding irresponsibly.

Although I have not always been the most outspoken advocate of President-Elect Barack Obama, today I would like to congratulate him and add my voice to the millions of fellow citizens who are celebrating his historic and frightening election victory. I don't care whether you are a conservative or a liberal -- when you saw this inspiring young African-American rise to our nation's highest office I hope you felt the same sense of patriotic pride that I experienced, no matter how hard you were hyperventilating with deep existential dread.
Yes, I know there are probably other African-Americans much better qualified and prepared for the presidency. Much, much better qualified. Hundreds, easily, if not thousands, and without any troubling ties to radical lunatics and Chicago mobsters. Gary Coleman comes to mind. But let's not let that distract us from the fact that Mr. Obama's election represents a profound, positive milestone in our country's struggle to overcome its long legacy of racial divisions and bigotry. It reminds us of how far we've come, and it's something everyone in our nation should celebrate in whatever little time we now have left.
Less than fifty years ago, African-Americans were barred from public universities, restaurants, and even drinking fountains in many parts of the country. On Tuesday we came together and transcended that shameful legacy, electing an African-American to the country's top job -- which, in fact, appears to be his first actual job. Certainly, it doesn't mean that racism has disappeared in America, but it is an undeniable mark of progress that a majority of voters no longer consider skin color nor a dangerously gullible naivete as a barrier to the presidency.
It's also heartening to realize that as president Mr. Obama will soon be working hand-in-hand with a former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard like Senator Robert Byrd to craft the incoherent and destructive programs that will plunge the American economy into a nightmare of full-blown sustained depression. As Vice President-Elect Joe Biden has repeatedly warned, there will be difficult times ahead and the programs will not always be popular, or even sane. But as we look out over the wreckage of bankrupt coal companies, nationalized banks, and hyperinflation, we can always look back with sustained pride on the great National Reconciliation of 2008. Call me an optimist, but I like to think when America's breadlines erupt into riots it will be because of our shared starvation, not the differences in our color.
It's obvious that this newfound pride is not confined to Americans alone. All across the world, Mr. Obama's election has helped mend America's tattered image as a racist, violent cowboy, willing to retaliate with bombs at the slightest provocation. The huge outpouring of international support following the election shows that America can still win new friendships while rebuilding its old ones, and provides Mr. Obama with unprecedented diplomatic leverage over our remaining enemies. When Russian tanks start pouring into eastern Europe and Iranian missiles begin raining down on Jerusalem, their leaders will know they will be facing a man who not only conquered America's racial divide but the hearts of the entire Cannes film community. And those Al Qaeda terrorists plotting a dirty nuke or chemical attack on San Francisco face a stark new reality: while they may no longer need to worry about US Marines, they are looking down the barrel of a strongly worded diplomatic condemnation by a Europe fully united in their deep sympathy for surviving Americans.
So for now, let's put politics aside and celebrate this historic milestone. In his famous speech at the Lincoln Memorial 45 years ago, Dr. King said "I have a dream that one day my children will live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Let us now take pride that Tuesday we Americans proved that neither thing matters anymore.

since I stepped down from supervisor to manager this year, (too much time on the road, plus injury woes) there is a new chain of command..
I am also semi-training MY boss..and his other newbies..
at our big meeting last week, most said they learned more from me--than the 2 days spent with 10 supervisors and 1 regional, and 1 VP...lol...

paying taxes doesnt mean it always goes for the good programs either.
some goes to other countries, some dollars pay for Congress's raises, and some pays for neglected debts left by others who dont pay.
such as a 65 yr old illegal who has a heart attack and cant pay the hospital bill,
the hospital goes to the state for funds,
the state goes to the federal for funds,
we pay into the federal taxes..
(I just watched this on the local county channel)

Yes, indeed, I hope you were thinking about those welfare hand-outs to successful agribusiness corporations who don't need or deserve it when you pulled down on the Republican levers for State Assembly and Senate this past Tuesday, because that's what you voted for. Just check the mailings you get regularly from Nozzolio and even more so from Finch -- all their bragging about how hard they work to help the corporate agribusiness (which is destroying the environment, economy and social fabric) of this region. I'm sure you feel that is a better use of our tax dollars than, say, preventative health care for those without insurance (funding for which was just cut).
