Two teenagers were arrested by the Auburn Police Department on burglary charges after they allegedly stole and crashed a Tubman Lane family's 2000 Oldsmobile Alero Sunday morning, the APD reported
Police have accused Peter Jerome Graves Jr., 17, of 16 Parker St., Auburn, and Robert Jermaine Johnson Jr., 17, of 7 Arlington Ave., Auburn, of breaking into the victim's garage and driving off with their car in addition to burglarizing a nearby Train Drive residence at 2:20 a.m. on Sunday.
Police said they were alerted to the Tubman Lane burglary when the residents heard their garage door open and saw their car driving away.
Officers found the Alero at 5:30 a.m. after the car was severely damaged in a crash with a utility pole, police said.
Graves and Johnson were linked to the crash and were found in the area, police said. No injuries were reported.
After executing three search warrants on their homes, the teens were also accused of being involved in several other unsolved burglaries, police said.
The teens were arraigned in Auburn City Court on Monday. They were charged with two counts of burglary in the second-degree and fourth-degree grand larceny, both felonies, and fourth-degree criminal mischief and petit larceny, both misdemeanors.
Bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
More charges are pending, and detectives have requested that anyone with any information regarding the crimes call their office at 255-4702
