OSWEGO -- Authorities say a 19-year-old college student remains in critical condition after being assaulted by a Fort Drum soldier outside an upstate New York bar.

Oswego police are charging 23-year-old Kevin Flanagan with assault. He is expected to be arraigned Monday afternoon. Police say he may face additional charges as the investigation continues.

Police say Flanagan got into a verbal dispute with 19-year-old Angel Moreno just after 3 a.m. Sunday outside the Pizza Pub in Oswego. Police say Flanagan struck Moreno, leaving the Bronx man with a severe head injury.

Moreno is a student at the State University of New York at Oswego. He was airlifted to University Hospital in Syracuse.
