The Auburn Fire Department could be purchasing a new, greener command vehicle thanks to a state grant. City Hall will vote today on a resolution that would add $35,000 to the city's 2008-2009 budget for purchasing the new vehicle. According to the proposals, the entirety of that amount is covered by a state grant secured as a member item by state Sen. Michael Nozzolio.
One of the stipulations of the grant is that the new vehicle must be a hybrid or run on alternative fuel, according to the resolution.
The vote will take place during the city council's weekly meeting, which begins 6 p.m. at Memorial City Hall, 24 South St.
Also on the agenda is a measure concerning a residential development proposed on North Street.
The development would include 30 semi-detached homes and a community building, according to the proposal. Council will not vote on the proposal itself, but will decide whether to name the city Planning Board as the lead agency for an environmental review.
