Christian rock band tour refreshing, inspirational

With all of the political rubbish in the mainstream media of late, it was a sorely needed breath of fresh air for me to attend the Satisfied Tour at the Auburn Alliance Church, featuring three well-known Christian rock bands, inspirational speeches, and a social gospel message.
Since I work on weekends, I missed the first band, Sevenglory, so I cannot comment on their performance. I came in during the second band's performance. Ruth (named after lead singer Dustin Ruth) is a hard-driving rock band that was fun to listen to, although I could not hear the lyrics very well. This was unfortunate, since lyrics make Christian music what it is - an alternative to worldly rock. All of the singers and speakers suffered from a sound system or perhaps acoustics that weren't quite right; the bass and echo came across as too strong. On the other hand, it was great to see kids of middle school age jumping to the music up front, having the time of their lives.

The star of the show was Grammy-nominated band, Decemberadio, led by vocalist and bass player, Josh Reedy. The music of this band is top notch, definitely influenced by some of the classic '70s and '80s “southern” rock I heard as a kid. The songs were hard-driving but carefully crafted by these highly talented musicians, with Brian Bunn on lead guitar and vocals, Eric Miker on guitar and vocals, and Boone Daughdrill on drums. For me, the best part of the show was “Drifter,” one of Decemberradio's current hits that is getting a lot of air play on Christian stations.

Lots of people did not know the names of the musicians; I knew about Decemberadio because I had one of their CDs. This concert was also under-attended, considering the capacity of the hall. The event was probably under-promoted, but it was the best twenty bucks worth of good music I've ever heard in Auburn, and well worth venturing out on a cold night to hear.

" Ms. Backus - I do have one question: what is a "social gospel" message? I don't know what you mean and would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks - Wendy "

" Dear Ms. Backus - While I am certainly pleased that you enjoyed the Satisfied Tour at Auburn Alliance, I would like to clear up some misconceptions in your comments, particularly about the attendance and the "under-promotion". Before I do that, however, I would like to point out that the sound system used was that belonging to the tour, and control of all sound issues was solely that of their technicians, per contract. If you are familiar with rock concerts of any genre, you'll understand that they are most likely going to be quite loud and perhaps a little distorted, especially in an indoor venue. But I digress. This event took no less than four months and hundreds of hours to plan. It was heavily promoted on three radio stations, in three newspapers, with countless posters and flyers distributed in Auburn and surrounding areas, a huge banner in front of the church, and three separate sets of emails sent to every church we could find in the greater-Syracuse area. A substantial amount of tickets were given away on the radio stations, and many others were purchased and donated by members of the church. Considering the current economic times and that there were several other Christian concerts in the area that weekend, I would say attendance of over 200 people was fantastic. But, whether there were 20, 200 or 2000 in attendance, we felt the event was a complete and total success due to the fact that the message of Salvation through Jesus Christ was presented throughout the evening in a very powerful way. This was our clear and ultimate purpose in hosting this event from the very beginning, and God certainly worked through us in bringing that goal to fruition. So, while we would have loved to fill each of the available 500 seats in our new sanctuary, we feel that our first major concert event was well worth all of the time and hard work. I also must tell you that each and every young man involved in the three bands and crew was a true gentleman in every sense of the word, and they made our day extremely enjoyable for us.
We do thank you for your positive comments regarding the concert, and we hope you'll join us again for future events.

What absolute CRAP!
Rock and Roll is about sex, drugs, partying, and living in rebellion.
