Theaters should show more G, PG movies

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 1:05 AM EST

I took my grandson to see “High School Musical 3: Senior Year,” the first day it was shown at the Finger Lakes Theater.
While I would not have gone without a reason (thank you, Jake), I was pleased to see in The Citizen the next day that this movie had a record opening for a musical and came in No. 1 in the weekend box office class.

On occasion, in the past, we have seen a few “G” rated movies coming in first and a few Disney movies have won Academy Awards. I did not see any of the recent “R” rated movies shown the past few months but did see some of the reviews. It seems so unnecessary to have so many of these movies shown in our theaters. Many of these movies also are listed for profanity “L,” nudity “N,” sexual content “S,” and violence “V.”

Is it any wonder our country is in the shape it is in, in regards to morality? I would love to see a return to more “G” and “PG” rated movies in my remaining lifetime. Why not? I do not think I am alone in this line of thinking.
