Sarah Palin reinforcing bad teenage decisions

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 1:05 AM EST

I've just run out of things to tell my 16 year old grandson, who isn't exactly happy with the school experience during his teen years. He's not a bad boy, but he is going through some anger issues, a bit of rebellion against authority. He seems to be at a place where he can't understand what good school is doing for him. We tell him all the benefits of having a high school diploma and point out that he can't even get a menial job without that diploma. Then, enter stage left, Sarah Palin, vice presidential nominee, whose teenage daughter is prematurely pregnant and quitting school to be married and home-tutored, and whose teenage “soon to be” son-in-law, is quitting school to marry her daughter and go to work as an electrician in the oil fields. My grandson sees electrician, oil fields, quit school, and really is blinded to the downside of this arrangement. It all adds up to dollar signs, independence and many other benefits becoming a big part of his routine, while parents, teachers, rules, bells, and structured days would all be removed from his life, especially since he doesn't have the added blessing of a teenage pregnancy.
Thank you, Sarah Palin! How can something so wrong look so right?

" karl again, Palin is to be blamed for her daughter's condition, NOT FOR SANDY'S GRANDSON!!!!!!!!!!! NOBODY IS ARGUING ABOUT PALIN AND HER KIDS, IT'S ABOUT BLAMING PALIN FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEMS.You so much want to bash (again) Palin that I think you missed what the comments are. "

" YES, YOU CAN BLAME PALIN FOR KEEPING HER KIDS IGNORANT WITH "ABSTINENCE ONLY"-TYPE CRAAAAP ABOUT THE INEFFECTIVENESS OF CONDOMS!!!!!
Here's how it probably went in the back seat--
He--"should I use some protection?"
She-"well, Mom said that they don't work anyway, so..."
BOOM!--PREGGARS!!!
BLAME PALIN FOR HER DAUGHTER'S IGNORANCE!! "

" Sandy, I agree with movesouth, you can't blame Palin, for his problems, Iam sure they were there long before Palin came along. Maybe he needs some outside guidence from the school or the medical commuinty. I wish you and your family good luck, its very hard to raise teens today. "

" If your grandson's life is going to fall apart because Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant, then you have bigger issues to worry about. Give your grandson a little credit. If you've raised him right, he will make decisions that are right for his life. And here's a news flash--you may not agree with them, but they are his choices to make. And thank you to "cm" who pointed out that her daughter does have a loving and supportive family. It's something that more girls in her situation should have, rather than being made to feel ashamed of the choices they have made. "

" Blaming Palin is just an excuse, that boy was failed long before Palin's daughter's pregnancy was announced. "During his teen years", it didn't start with Palin. Why not look for the real cause? "

" I am sure your grandson also sees teen suicide, so because he sees it means he has to do it????
please, stop blaming others, TV, videos games, sports stars, movie stars, and life in general..

palin's daughter is NOT underage right now,she just turned 18...she has a good family support group which alot of teens do not have..

put the blame where it actually goes--ON HIM! "

" Don't worry, Sandy.
Palin will now hopefully disappear into obscurity, and take her theocracy and silly religious delusions with her back to Wasilla! "
