HIT: To Election Day finally being here.
Though it's been an historic campaign and one that has certainly created renewed interest in politics, we're glad that the time for stump speeches and spin operations is over.
Now we hope that the interest the public has shown for politics can be carried over into an increased interest how our leaders are governing.
MISS: To another domestic dispute that turned violent in the city of Auburn.
Auburn police have charged a woman with stabbing her husband over the weekend as part of a domestic altercation. Police had been to the house earlier in the evening responding to a call, at which time both parties had said they had the situation under control.
There is certainly much more to learn about this case, and that will happen as part of the judicial process. But it's an unfortunate reminder that domestic violence remains a major public safety problem.
HIT: To the debut of the annual “Quilts=Art=Quilts” exhibit at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn.
The Schweinfurth delivers outstanding programs and exhibits all year, but it's known well beyond the region for this quilt show. Just check out the wide range of places from which quilts for this show are submitted. The museum said it received a record 367 entries from 40 states and four countries this year.
We congratulate the winners of this year's juried contest, and we encourage local residents to stop by and check it all out while the exhibit runs over the next two months.
HIT: To the Syracuse Orange football team's surprising victory Saturday over Louisville.
This marked the second straight year in which SU upset heavily favored Louisville. Though more work remains if this year's Orange team is to make this season respectable, last weekend's game was a good place to start.
Now we hope that the interest the public has shown for politics can be carried over into an increased interest how our leaders are governing.
