  • Don't let budget cuts affect tobacco control program
Fallout from big business greed should not jeopardize the physical and financial health of all New Yorkers. That is exactly what will happen if government officials choose to temporarily alleviate budget deficits by decreasing funds to the Tobacco Control Program. This is inequitable because the New York State Tobacco Control Program actually pays for itself and then some.

  • Federal Reserve System is reason for economic crisis
To gain understanding of the economic crisis, one must look back to the root cause of the problem. In the year 1913, the seeds of our national destruction were sown. Congress abdicated its constitutional responsibility of “coining the money and determining the value thereof” and delivered this power to a group of international financiers, thereby creating a private corporation, deceptively called the Federal Reserve System. It is run for profit and its shareholders, members of the world's richest families, created central banking the world's most lucrative business.

  • Both major parties have hurt the country
There is no lever for “the lesser of two evils.” There are two corporately anointed candidates who are so much alike that they nit-pick at each other like a couple old ladies (Sorry, old ladies). And right above each of these candidates is a lever for “keep up the good work, Dem/Rep party.”

  • Arcuri distorts record with his commercial
I am disgusted to see the commercial Mike Arcuri is running about Richard Hanna. The general public should be outraged by the flat out lies in the advertisement. I expect more from elected officials, and if anyone should know how wrong it is to be untruthful then I imagine it would be Mr. Arcuri. The 2006 Congressional campaign was one of the most repugnant in the nation. Now, two years later, Mr. Arcuri is using smear tactics? It makes me sick.

  • Hanna the right kind of person for district
I haven't been a political party member for 40 years. I find too much party bias that promotes people to believe they don't have to think in order to vote right. But with this election, I support and admire Richard Hanna's candidacy for our District 24, U.S. House of Representatives.

  • Aikman the best choice for Legislature
While over the final days of the 2008 election the television, Internet and newspaper media will be primarily focused on the presidential election, it is important for voters to realize that other contested races also appear on the ballot. These additional contests present equally important choices that need to be made.
