Voting booth levers have been cranking non-stop throughout Cayuga County since 6 a.m. when voters were allowed to begin casting their ballots.
While lines were small, they were constant as locations in Genoa and Weedsport had a steady stream of voters coming in to cast their ballot this morning.

Cayuga County Board of Elections Deputy Commissioner Deborah Calarco said that it was not uncommon for many locations, such as Weedsport and Auburn City Hall, to even have small lines of people waiting to vote before their polling location opened up.

"People are often there first thing in the morning; they just want to be the first ones to vote," Calarco said.

Despite the hectic pace and the consolidation of voting locations, Calarco said there have been no reported problems outside of the typical issues and questions that come with every election.

"We have had no problems, it's just been busy everywhere non-stop," Calarco said.
