When people think of Christian music, many probably think of the old hymns, a pipe organ, a church choir in matching robes and maybe, just maybe, a quietly strummed guitar. Today there are Christian artists for just about every musical genre you can think of, from R&B to pop to rock to rap to heavy metal.

Videos by Christian artists like Hawk Nelson, Flyleaf, Relient K and Switchfoot have appeared on mainstream channels like MTV, VH-1 and Fuse. Christian concerts and festivals attract hundreds of thousands of people each year and Christian music sales have increased from $188 million in 1990 to more than $700 million annually.

Any outdated ideas about Christian music will be changed if you stop in at Auburn Alliance Church this weekend when The Satisfied Tour comes to town, because this isn’t your grandma’s church music — unless your grandma likes her music loud and rocking!

The Satisfied Tour 2008 features three up-and-coming bands: Grammy-nominated, Dove Award-winning DecembeRadio headlines the event with material from its recent release, “Satisfied,” as well as hits “Find You Waiting” and “Drifter” from the band’s 2007 self-titled CD. DecembeRadio toured with Third Day this past spring and appeared at Kingdom Bound ’08 at Darien Lake.

Sharing the bill is 7Spin artist SevenGlory, which has recorded hits like “Just Me” and “Let It Be Love” and is currently in the studio working on a new CD.

Rounding out the musical portion is Tooth & Nail artist Ruth, debuting brand-new material from its CD, “Anorak,” which was released this week.

The show also features special guest Billy Wayne, an inspiring young speaker and talented musician in his own right, who will talk about what being satisfied can be.

This event promises to be a great night for all ages and musical tastes.
