University at Buffalo professor Michael Stefanone will discuss how reality television blurs the lines between art and life and YouTube makes celebrities out of ordinary people in “We're All Stars Now: Reality Television, Culture, and Web 2.0” at 4:45 p.m. today, in the Art Exhibit Room of Macmillan Hall, Wells College, Main Street, Aurora.
Stefanone, an assistant professor of communication, will share some results from his most recent work, which highlights cultural differences, including gender, in social networking Web site (MySpace, Facebook, YouTube) use.
As human-computer interaction becomes more prevalent in today's society, social networking sites are becoming more and more popular and navigating online social environments becomes an important skill.
The event is free and open to the Wells community and the public.
For more information, call 364-3240.
