Evy Thompson had 83 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Moravia football team in a 31-12 loss in the Section IV, Class C quarterfinals on Friday night.
Jeremy Stewart rushed for 56 yards and scored once, while Dillon Langtry threw for 70 yards for the Blue Devils.
Moravia had 16 first downs, while the Indians had only eight but three turnovers proved costly. The Blue Devils also had 234 total yards, while Groton only had 200.
“We moved the ball,” Blue Devils head coach John Crossgrove said. “We just couldn't put it in the end zone.”
Groton also recorded a safety on a blocked punt.
“We gave them short fields,” Crossgrove said. “They worked with it. We had numerous drives, just stalled and didn't score.”
Stewart and Matt Richards each had 11 tackles on defense.
Moravia (4-4) will play a Section IV crossover game next week. It will learn its opponent on Monday.
